Looking back: a journey through time in the hotel's history
The success story of the four-star hotel on the Arlberg began with founder Martin Jochum (born in 1885). Martin Jochum passed the concessional examinations for the hotel & restaurant industry on the 28th of January, 1928, and so laid the foundation for a hotel with a grand tradition in the exclusive holiday village of Lech.
1923 | Purchase of the site and construction begins |
1924 | Opening of the Tannbergerhof |
1928 | Martin Jochum passes the concessionary examination for the hotel & restaurant industry |
1929 | Construction of an annexe at the front of the building, which remains unchanged today. Number of beds at that time: 90 |
1930 | Opening of the well-known Eisbar on the river side of the hotel |
1932 | Construction of the "American Bar" dance bar with plans by architect Dönz |
1953 | Expansion of the hotel to include four additional storeys |
1959 | Sale of the Tannbergerhof manor house, renting of individual rooms |
1960 | Hilde Jochum, daughter of Martin Jochum, takes over as managing director |
1962/63 | Renovation of the four-storey upper section of the hotel, relocation of the Eisbar to its present location |
1970 | Construction of a modern sauna & massage facility in the cellar plus new bathrooms & heating facilities |
1976 | Construction of the current Tannberg Bar, relocation of the hotel reception and restaurant, expansion to include two new hotel suites |
1977/78 | Construction of Chalet Hilde |
1990 | Sale of Pension Bernhard |
1999 | Death of Hilde Jochum Veronika Heller (daughter of Hilde Jochum) takes up her inheritance and appoints Karl Wiener as hotel manager |
1999 | Sauna area is expanded to include a sauna, steam bath, solarium, whirlpool & expanded massage area |
2001 | Cellar area and ground floor undergo extensive renovation & modernising including construction of a new disco, restaurant and spacious reception area with multimedia seminar room |
2002 | The entire technology system is updated to create an efficient network comprising 2,000m of cable and new digital telephone facilities and internet connections in every room The 36 million Austrian schilling renovation is completed in November 2001 and celebrated with a huge party and live bands. |
2004 | Peter Steinwidder becomes managing director |
2005 | 22nd-23rd August: floodwaters destroy the cellar area. Repairs are completed in record time with local help and additional assistance from outside the region. |
2007 | Guest rooms are renovated and decorated in a manor house style, new thermal insulation and passenger lifts are installed on all floors |
2008 | Chalet Hilde is renovated |
2009 | The Eisbar is refurbished |
2011 | Denny Noé takes over as managing director of the hotel |
2011 | Suite III is completed |
2019 | The hotel is purchased by the brothers Johannes and Christoph Pfefferkorn |
2020/21 | The exterior terrace is redesigned to include a bar and awnings |
